Abalone Cove Shoreline Park – Smuggler’s Cove

Three trails access two sandy swimming beachs from this point (see map). No parking any time on Palos Verdes Dr. Park use is restricted to daylight hours. Tidepools are an Ecological Preserve - nothing may be taken. A bluff top trail encircles the Inspiration Point peninsula providing superb ocean and shoreline views. Excellent whale watching spot. The cove was formerly used as a nude beach because of it's beauty and seclusion. This is now prohibited by city ordinance. Coastline routes both downcoast and upcoast from Smuggler's Cove are impassable. A large seacave is located near the end of the west bluff (Portuguese Point).
