Rockaway Beach was a romantic get-away for San Franciscans since the early days. Beautiful buildings, restaurants and shops line the beach. The visitor center for Golden Gate National Recreation Area is located here, providing historic and contemporary information. South of the beach a paved trail leads over a high headland.
